On the afternoon of November 19th, the 2024 Global Industrial Cooperation Conference was successfully convened in Hangzhou. This conference was supported by China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC), hosted by Global Alliance of SMEs and organized by China Chamber of International Commerce Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce. Under the theme “Open Collaboration to Connect the World,” the conference aimed to promote global consensus and enhance international industrial collaboration. Notable participants included Mr. Wan Gang, Chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology; Mr. Christian Wulff, former Federal President, Honorary Chairman of GASME and recipient of the China Government Friendship Award 2022; Mr. Yu Jianlong, Vice Chairman of CCPIT and CCOIC; Mr. Ye Zhengbo, Vice Chairman of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; Mr. Long Yongtu, former Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, Chief Negotiator for China's WTO Accession, Mr. Chen Jianzhong, Chairman of China CCPIT Zhejiang Provincial Committee and CCOIC Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce; Mr. Lu Jianqiang, President of China Zheshang Bank Co., Ltd. Jens Eskelund, President of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China; Carlo DAndrea, Vice President of the European Chamber; Eric Zheng, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, among other distinguished leaders.

Almost 1000 participants from various industries, including executives from Fortune Global 500 companies, executives from major European and American companies, as well as delegates from international organizations and foreign business associations. Participants also included senior officials from foreign embassies in China and Chinese local government officials.

Chairman Wan Gang emphasized in his speech that given today's complex global industrial landscape, it is crucial to fully respect objective laws on international specialization while relentlessly pushing forward trade liberalization and investment facilitation. He emphasized that strengthening cooperative ties will significantly improve stability within global supply chains, which is in line with the common interests of all nations.

Chairman Wulff noted in his speech that Germany and China are key countries that represent Europe and Asia, respectively, and play a crucial role in the global economic recovery. He expressed the hope that governments around the world, together with their companies, would strengthen industrial cooperation to seize the opportunities of the fourth industrial revolution and thus promote prosperity worldwide.

Vice President Yu Jianlong said in his speech that consolidating global supply chain cooperation is essential due to its importance for all parties involved. He announced an upcoming exhibition organized by CCPIT that focuses on improving China's international supply chain and will comprehensively showcase advanced manufacturing technologies such as intelligent vehicles, digital technology and health industries, while creating a comprehensive platform that integrates production and academic research applications in a sustainable and inclusive manner Development within the framework of global industrial cooperation.

Vice Chairman Ye Zhengbo emphasized open development as a key feature that distinguishes Zhejiang's economy. Over the past 20 years, Zhejiang has deeply integrated itself into global industrial cooperation, built a modern industrial system with the advanced manufacturing cluster “415X” as the main component, and promoted the transformation of the traditional “block economy” into a modern industrial cluster. More and more multinational companies will choose industrial cooperation with Zhejiang and prosper in Zhejiang.

Long Yongtu, former Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, chief negotiator for China's accession to the WTO, Jens Eskelund, President of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, Lu Jianqiang, President of China Zheshang Bank Co., Ltd., and An Conghui, President of Geely Holdings Group, CEO of Zeekr Intelligent Technology, each delivered keynote speeches. They exchanged their opinions, suggestions and valuable experiences on strengthening cooperation in the global industrial and supply chain in light of the current world situation.

In panel discussions with top executives such as Lu Yuebing (CEO of Air Liquide China), Huang Xiaojun (General Representative of Veolia Group in China), Hu Jianjun (Vice President of Siemens China) and other Fortune 500 executives, the global structure was presented Companies and discussed their globalization development strategies. The heads of business associations reported on the development situation and prospects of their member companies in China, as well as the obstacles faced by enterprises in global trade and investment, offered solutions, and made important suggestions and directions to improve China's investment environment.

Mr. Chen Jianzhong, Chairman of CCPIT Zhejiang Provincial Committee and CCOIC Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce, as Chairman of the “Dialogue between International Organizations and Leaders of Business Associations,” said that business associations, as one of the three cornerstones of the market economy, play an important role as a bridge and Link between government and companies. The “Zhejiang Foreign Business Environment Evaluation Report (2023)” issued by CCPIT Zhejiang Provincial Committee shows in the first half of this year that the foreign business environment in Zhejiang has improved significantly, and the investment income of foreign companies in Zhejiang remains unchanged and is expected to grow.

The ceremonial signing of cooperation projects also took place as part of the conference. SCHMUHL (Germany), PPC Milestones (Austria), PT Prince Fayze Allashimi (Indonesia), IDS (Australia), Kuramoto (Japan), SAFEWELL GROUP HOLDINGS LTD (Hong Kong), Japans Hongonse Co., Ltd. and Taiwan Haomeng Automotive Materials Co., Ltd. each signed cooperation agreements with relevant industrial parks and companies in Zhejiang.

The conference also introduced the Hangzhou Initiative to Secure and Promote Re-globalization, in the hope that governments, international organizations, business associations and companies of all countries will overcome differences and seek cooperation to support and promote re-globalization support financially.
